Historic Preservation & Adaptive Reuse

It’s by no accident that The Perkins Construction Company offices are located inside a lumberyard building originally constructed in the 1950s. Or now in a residence constructed in the forties, in the Village of Dixboro. We’re strong believers in adaptive reuse and historic preservation. Ann Arbor’s many historic buildings give our community identity and historic continuity, both valuable attributes to which we’re committed.

When a building has outlived its purposes, we work hard to adapt it to today’s needs, while safeguarding its inherent charm. Adaptive reuse puts our great strengths to work: craftsmanship and attention to detail. We go to great lengths to be historically accurate. From transforming a 1928 gas station into a banking facility to adding a dining room to an 1886 railroad station, we’re experienced in making all kinds of old buildings feel brand new.
